Evolving a Culture of Healing for All

WACHA CBO is community-based organization that was established by a group of 5 Human Right activists and duly registered in 2014 under registration number DSD/CHN/CD/2019/2575. The activists were agitated by the rampant attacks meted out to Key population (Sex Workers, PWUD and MSM) and LGBTIQ by the general populace in Mombasa Kenya. Most of the survivors of violence had their
dignity stripped off after being publicly flogged and undergoing mental anguish and post-traumatic
stress disorders. Other survivors had been outed by neighbors, and bar attendants. Others were
victims of blackmail and doctored court charges.

Based on the needs of survivors of the horrible attack some survivors were on HIV treatment they needed to again access to re HIV treatment drugs refills while all of them traumatized and offered a psychological support by professional Coast based psychologist. WACHA was born to bridge the gap of both reproductive health right and mental health for GSM in Coastal region . The activists, therefore, formed a support group for
survivors of violence, culminating in WACHA C.B.O.
